Grief Poem - Love of My Life

You've only gone ahead of us, though life has lost its will;

But we "sense" you, as though you're here, as living with us still.

Maybe you see our tears and grief, and see what all we do.

And when we smile, remembering times - maybe you're smiling, too.

When you were here, we were just "one"; one mind, one soul, one being.

Now we're alone, walking through life, though only "we" are seen.

And then night comes, quiet and still, sometimes grief pains then start.

We'd like you here - but you flew off, though you're still in our heart.

Before you left, you said you'd stay, always be at our side.

You told us, too, that all "your" days, we were your love and pride.

Tomorrow comes, it always does, however hard the day.

There's always an end to sorrow, as 'time' wipes tears away.

There's always another "distance," beyond the one we see.

There's always a reason for living, though sad our heart may be.

We share a secret, you and I, that no one else shall know.

For only I can see your face at night in candle glow.

And as I walk the busy streets alone at Christmas time,

Just now and then, I swear I feel your hand slip into mine!

Although we're not together now, the way we used to be;

We're connected by thread of love that no one else can see.

You were my life, you're in my dreams, sometimes I feel your touch.

For nothing loved is ever lost, and I loved you so much!

Lonely is home without you dear, life's simply not the same.

Hey! This world would be like Heaven, dear, to have you back again.

Someday I know, I will meet you but I don't know just when.

We'll clasp our hands in better lands to never part again.

Faith, hope and love, let's know these three, the greatest one is love.[1]

We know God's word, that He made us and filled us with His love
