A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection to several reports of a firearm being discharged inside city limits, including apparent vandalism with vehicles being shot and one gunshot inside a residence.
Havre Police Department said the boy, who is from Hays, was arrested Friday and transported to be held in the Cascade County Juvenile Detention Center.
The release said he was arrested on eight counts of criminal endangerment, two counts of criminal mischief, three counts of discharging a weapon within city limits, a count of minor in possession of intoxicants and curfew violation.
The release said investigations are ongoing.
A 16-year-old girl from Havre was issued citations for obstructing a peace officer, MIP, endangering the welfare of a child and curfew violations, and an 11-year-old girl from Havre was issued citations for curfew violation, the release said. Both of those juveniles were released to their parents.
The release said Havre police received two reports at about 1:10 a.m. Friday of gunshots being heard in the 600 Block of Sixth Avenue and 900 Block of Sixth Street.
Officers at 1:47 a.m. Friday located three juveniles as one was trying to break into a vehicle on the 500 Block of Seventh Avenue, the release said. The three ran from the scene and officers were able to locate two of them.
The release said that, at 2:42 a.m. Friday, Havre police received a report that a boy had shot off a gun inside a residence on the 800 Block of Fifth Avenue. The boy fired the gun and shot through the basement ceiling as people were trying to remove the gun from him, the release said.
The release said Havre police received a report at 4:25 a.m. Friday that the windshields of a vehicle on the 500 Block of Sixth Avenue had been shot out and a report at 12:26 p.m. Friday of a vehicle on the 500 Block of Seventh Street having a bullet hole.
The release said a 2005 Honda Accord was shot where the bullet traveled through the rear passenger window, through the driver’s head rest and out the right passenger’s window and then struck the window shutter on a home.
A 2012 Ford received damage to a door and door frame from being shot, the release said.
The release said all of the incidents appear to be related and if anyone finds damage to their vehicles or homes or items missing from their vehicles, they should make a report by calling the Havre Police Department at 406-265-4361.
