As our district and our community pay tribute to Craig Mueller Saturday, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you, something I wish I could have said more often.
Craig was an incredible ambassador for Havre Public Schools, and as someone who has coached in the district for 20-plus years now, I couldn’t be more appreciative for the way he worked diligently to help make HPS and everything within our system what it is today.
I got to know Craig first as a principal at HHS, and then as our superintendent, and I immediately admired how hard he worked. But more importantly than just his efforts, it was his loyalty to HPS that I really and truly admired.
As a lifelong Blue Pony, I’m pretty protective of what we have and what we are. But I always felt that Craig, from the moment he arrived in Havre, truly embraced Blue Pony Nation, and not only did he embrace it, he also became a leading face of Blue Pony Nation. Again, as someone who not only has lived in this community for more than 40 years, but has been a Blue Pony in one capacity or another my entire life, Craig’s dedication to HPS and Blue Pony Nation was something that was not lost on me and is something I truly respected and greatly appreciated.
I also respected and admired the fact that Craig took on the superintendent job at perhaps the most difficult time in modern history. No one in school administration, or in education, had been through a global pandemic before, so to see Craig take on that responsibility, again, that is something I will always deeply respect and admire about him, and he did it, because he cared. He did it because he loved Havre Public Schools and our community.
For that, and so much more, I want to thank Craig Mueller for everything he did for us. Craig was a true-blue Blue Pony, and he will be greatly missed.
