This past Friday in Helena, the Montana State University-Northern cross country teams competed in the Frontier Conference Championship meets. In the men’s 8,000-race, the MSU-N team finished fifth. In the women’s 5,000-race, the MSU-N team failed to place.
In the men’s meet, the Lights scored 151 points as a team to finish fifth. Carroll College won the men’s race with a team score of 37 with Montana Western coming in second and Montana Tech coming in third. Carroll College also won the women’s race with a team score of 37. Rocky Mountain College took second in the race and Tech came in third.
Field Soosloff finished in 22nd place for the Lights with a time of 28:02.9. Jaden Koon came in 35th with a time of 29:52.7 for the Lights. Ethan Durward took 42nd with a time of 32:27.4 and August SpottedWolf took 43rd with a time of 33:01.4. Eddie Harmon rounded out the race for the Lights as he took 44th with a finish of 33:12.6.
Even though the Skylights did not place, many of their runners did. Katie Gaines had the best finish for the team as she finished 37th with a time of 23:14.1. Tamera O’Leary came in 41st with a time of 24:27.5 and Mattiah Murillo took 46th with a time of 26:32.2.
The MSU-N runners now await word if any individuals qualified for the NAIA National Championships in Tallahassee, Florida on Nov. 18.
