Pony runners succeed at Eastern A Fall Classic

Though all varsity competitors will be going to state later this week, the Eastern A Fall Classic, which serves as a divisional meet for Eastern A cross country, was exciting and highly competitive last Friday in Sidney.

And the Havre Blue Ponies ran quite well.

The Blue Pony girls took third amongst all Eastern A teams in Sidney, with a score of 96 points. Hardin was first, followed by Lewistown, while Havre edged out Miles City. On the boys side, the Ponies placed fifth with 128 points. Livingston was first, followed by Laurel and Hardin.

Individually, the Havre girls were led by Hailey Gingery, who ran a 20:24.26, for eighth place. Havre also got a Top 15 finish from Jayla Meldrum, who finished her race in 20:44.37. Also running well for HHS was Page Anderson, who finished 24th with a time of 21:53.78, Clara Haslem, who ran a 21:58.65 for 26th place, Gracie Shandorf, who placed 27th with a time of 22:01.27, Hannah Kinsella, who finished in 22:31.93 and Ariel Ost, who finished in 23:10.12.

On the boys side, the Ponies were paced by Caleb Tomac, who finished in 16:53.42 for seventh place. Havre’s Zack May ran a personal best 17:41.02 for 21st place, while Brody Henry was 22nd with a 17:41.15. Ezra Goldhahn ran a 18:30.47, while Mason Gregoire ran a 19:23.82, Dylan Kunz finished in 20:32.94 and Dodson Corner ran a 21:35.01.

Havre is now ready for the 2022 MHSA State Cross Country Championships, which will run Saturday in Missoula.
