With the postseason right around the corner, the Havre High volleyball team took a break from conference play, instead, traveling to Butte for the second annual Blocktoberfest.
Hosted at three different sites in the Mining City, the Blocktoberfest featured a slew of Class A and B powerhouses, with pool play Friday and bracketed tournaments Saturday.
And at the end of it all, Havre had an excellent weekend by finishing third.
The Ponies started things off by going a perfect 7-0 in Pool Play Friday. Havre beat Hardin 30-21, Florence 30-18, Corvallis 30-17. Poison 30-27, Frenchtown 30-20, Lockwood 30-15 and Columbia Falls 30-24.
The seven wins pushed Havre through to the championship bracket where the Ponies battled the top nine teams in matches of 2-of-3 sets. To start things off, Havre took on arch rival Billings Central in the opener, and fell 21-25, 25-21 and 13-15. The Ponies rebounded to beat Whitefish, Glendive and Laurel to reach the consolation final, where they took on Central again, this time beating the Rams 20-25, 25-20 and 15-8.
During the tournament, a host of Ponies stepped up, including Lizzi Haney, who tallied 10 aces and 76 digs, while Molly Huse had 162 assists, 61 digs and seven aces. Kyanna Jarvis had a team-high 64 kills, while Avery Carlson added 61. Yelena Miller tallied 43 kills and 17 blocks.
Class B Jefferson beat Stevensville in the championship bracket final, while Havre was third, Central fourth and Laurel fifth.
The Blue Ponies play their final two home matches of the season this weekend. They host Browning Friday night and Sidney Saturday afternoon.
