The weather in this part of Montana has been a classic fall for temperatures lately, with brisk mornings and afternoon temperatures in the 60s and 70s and lows in the 30s, but the forecast for the weekend calls for some cooler temperatures and a bit of rain and even possibly snow.
National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, which oversees National Weather Service, is putting out its latest long-range prediction Thursday, a highly anticipated look at what the winter might bring.
The last week has seen cool highs and lows even dipping below freezing, with the low at Havre recorded at 30 degrees at 6:44 a.m. Sunday, although Saturday saw a high of 70 with a low of 41.
This week looks to be a bit warmer, at least at first. Highs are predicted in the upper 60s and low 70s, with lows in the 30s and even a low for Havre predicted Wednesday at 41 degrees, and no precipitation expected before Friday.
Friday night the Havre forecast calls for a slight chance of rain after midnight, with a chance of rain Saturday and rain and snow Sunday. The Weather Service forecast, which goes through Sunday, calls for a slight chance of rain and snow in the area that day.
The forecast high for Saturday is 58 in Havre with a low of 31 and blustery winds predicted and a high Sunday of 44 with partly sunny skies.
