Another weekend brings with it another dominant win by the Big Sandy six-man football team. At home this past Friday, the Pioneers defeated Box Elder, 60-7, to remain undefeated on the season.
The Pioneers got started quickly with Braydon Cline throwing a 46-yard touchdown to Kody Strutz to make it 8-0. On the next Big Sandy drive, Cline kept it himself for a 35-yard touchdown run. Later in the first quarter, Cline found Lane Demontiney for an 11-yard score to push the lead to 20-0.
Just minutes later, Cline connected with Demontiney again, this time for a 22-yard score. Cline continued to throw it around as he next found Cooper Taylor for a 37-yard touchdown. The quarter ended with Demontiney returning a punt 40 yards for the score to make it 40-0.
In the second quarter, the passing game continued to execute as Cline found Lance Rutledge for a 17-yard score to make it 48-0 heading to halftime. In the third quarter, the Pioneers ran the ball with Tannin Baumman taking the ball 19 yards for a score. Box Elder scored a touchdown, but still trailed 54-7 heading to the fourth. The Pioneers scored another touchdown in the final frame to make the final score 60-7.
The Pioneers finished the game with 297 yards of offense. Cline went 8-for-9 through the air for 168 yards and five touchdowns. Strutz and Taylor each had 46 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Pioneers had 126 rushing yards with Sam Cox leading the way with 37 rushing yards on four carries.
The Big Sandy defense also played well. The Bears finished the game with only 41 yards of offense on 1.3 yards a play. The Pioneers forced four turnovers and Demontiney had a strong game with 3.5 total tackles and three interceptions.
Box Elder falls to 0-4 on the season and will next play this Saturday at home against North Star. Big Sandy improves to 6-0 on the year and will look to remain undefeated on the road against Heart Butte this Saturday.

CJI 22, Hobson-Moore 7
Six-man football tends to be a high-scoring affair. Someone forgot to tell the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks and the Hobson-Moore Titans that as they played a low-scoring game this Saturday. On the road, the Hawks emerged victorious with the 22-7 win.
After a scoreless first quarter, Braden Mattson gave the Hawks a 7-0 lead with a touchdown pass in the second quarter. But the Titans responded with a touchdown of their own. Before the end of the half, Nate Nelson ran it in for a touchdown to give CJI a 12-7 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, the Hawks put some more distance on the scoreboard between them and the Titans. The defense made a play with a safety to push the lead to 14-7. On offense, Adam Grammar ran it in for a score to push the lead to 22-7. The CJI defense played strong as it kept the Titans scoreless in the second half to secure the win.
As a team, the Hawks finished the game with 274 yards of offense. Most of the production came on the ground with 218 rushing yards. Nelson led the team with 172 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
CJI improved to 5-1 on the season and will next play Roy-Winifred at home this Friday.

North Star 55, Sunburst 19
After some recent struggles, the North Star six-man football team rebounded with a 55-19 win over Sunburst on the road this past Thursday. The Knights got off to a hot start as they scored 15 unanswered points in the first quarter to take the lead.
The Knights did not slow down in the second quarter as they scored another 27 points. Sunburst scored in the second quarter but trailed 42-6 heading to halftime. Even with the big lead, the Knights continued to roll in the third quarter to build a 55-6 lead.
Sunburst had a late surge with 13 points in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough as the Knights coasted to victory. North Star improves to 2-3 on the season and will look to keep it going with a game on the road against Box Elder this Saturday.
Shelby 70, Rocky Boy 8
As a program, the Rocky Boy 8-man football team is still trying to find its stride. That did not come this past Thursday as Rocky Boy lost, 70-8, at home against Shelby. The loss dropped Rocky Boy to 0-4 on the season. Rocky Boy will next play this Friday against Chinook.
Fort Benton 58, Harlem 0
In a matchup of Hi-Line 8-man football teams, Fort Benton got the better of Harlem with a 58-0 win in Harlem this past Friday. With the win, the Fort Benton Longhorns improved to 3-2 on the season and are scheduled to next play against Hays-Lodge Pole at home this Friday. The Harlem Wildcats fell to 3-4 on the year and will next play on the road at Belt this Friday.
Chinook 42, St. Regis-Mullan (ID) 26
This past Friday, the Chinook 8-man football team remained undefeated with a 42-26 win over St. Regis-Mullan from Idaho. With the win, the Chinook Sugarbeeters improved to 7-0 on the season and will next play on the road at Rocky Boy this Friday.
