Obituary - Douglas D. 'Tiny' Main Sr.

Douglas D. "Tiny" Main Sr., 68, passed away due to natural causes at Northern Montana Hospital Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Wake services began at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022.

A Rosary was said at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, and funeral services were held at noon Friday, September 30, 2022. All services took place at the Chief Nosey Center in Lodge Pole. Burial followed in the Main Family Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Tiny was born November 12, 1953, in Fort Belknap to James and Vernie (Brisbo) Main Sr. He was raised in Hays, Glasgow and Butte, and attended school in all three cities.

After his school years, Tiny enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served until his discharge.

He returned to Hays and married Glenda Haseagle. The couple had three daughters, Iris, Vernie and Michelle, before divorcing.

Tiny later married Kellie Cochran, and they had four children, Allison, Nicole, Doug Jr. and Kyle.

For many years, Tiny worked as a carpenter and supplemented his income with wildland firefighting during the summer, before sustaining the injury that caused his disability. For the next 14 years, he was in various care centers in Malta, Chester and Great Falls, moving to the Northern Montana Care Center in Havre in 2002.

Tiny enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending powwows, horseback riding, and all aspects of country life. He was serious about work, but when he was relaxing, he was full of life. He was very up front about his likes and dislikes, and he loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his daughters Vernie Main and Michelle Plainfeather; parents, James and Vernie Main Sr .; siblings, Rose, Oliver, Michael Edwin, and Michael Vernon Main; sister-in-law, Dianna Main; paternal aunts, Henrietta Main, Marie Chase, Dorothy Kinsey, Mya Walker, Opal Main and Rose Connor; maternal aunts, Jeannette Healy, Dolores Healy, Theresa Brisbo, Inez Badgley, and Shirley and Gerdie Brisbo; paternal uncles, Elmer, Gerald, Harold, and Walter Main; maternal uncles, William Jr., Edward, and Richard Brisbo; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Mae (Filesteel) Main; maternal grandparents, William and Annie (Whitecow) Brisbo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Tiny is survived by his wife Kellie Cochran of Fort Belknap, MT, and their children Allison Main of Seattle, WA, Nicole Main of Fort Belknap, Douglas Main Jr. of Arizona and Kyle Main of Fort Belknap; eldest daughter, Iris Has The Eagle of Seattle, WA; 24 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Harold "Jiggs" (Rosie) Main and William "Snuffy" Main Sr., all of Fort Belknap, and James Main Jr. of Montana; aunt Ruth Winchell of Billings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
