Induction ceremony set for Dec. 3 in Helena

Press release

The Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame’s 2022 inductees helped restore Montana’s streams, protected its wilderness, strengthened environmental laws, founded conservancies to help landowners keep ranches from being subdivided, restored native cutthroat trout, and renewed the cultural wisdom of their tribes.

The inductees are: Stan Bradshaw, Helena; Bruce Bugbee, Missoula; Harrison G. Fagg, Billings; John G. Gatchell, Helena; Kathleen Hadley, Deer Lodge; Land M. Lindbergh, Greenough; Robert “Bob” Marshall (1901-1939); John Murray, Browning; Bradley B. Shepard (1952-2021); Barbara Rusmore, Bozeman, and Christine Torgrimson, British Columbia; and The Three Yayas–Annie Pierre (1900-1975), Louise McDonald (1904-1994), and Christine Woodcock (1910-1986). They join 55 other conservation heroes who have been recognized by the Hall since 2014.

The Class of 2022 will be honored during a banquet and induction ceremony Dec. 3 at Delta Hotels Helena Colonial.

That afternoon, a panel of four prior inductees will discuss Conservation at the Campfire (Smoke Elser, 2018), Helping Found the Montana Environmental Information Center and Cinnabar Foundation (Robin Tawney Nichols, 2018), the Land and Water Conservation Fund’s Role in Montana (Chris Marchion, 2014) and Montana’s Stream Access Law (Bruce Farling, 2020).

The Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame was founded in 2013 to honor Montana’s conservation heroes and tell their stories. To learn more about the Hall or to register for the induction banquet, visit its website at https://mtoutdoorhalloffame.org .
