From Tee to Green
September is almost over. It’s state golf week, and while the weather is going to hold out a little longer it looks like, the trees are turning colors and the mornings are getting much colder.
So all that adds up, I have to put the From Tee to Green away for another long winter ahead.
Before I say my goodbyes, though, I want to say good job to the Montana State University-Northern golf teams, who had a strong showing at last week’s Carroll College Invitational.
The Lights finished in third place with a team score of 955, with T.J. Reynolds taking 19th place overall, while Gerit Johnson took 20th. Former Havre Blue Pony Theron Peterson finished in 21st, while Micaiah Hauser and Kyler Cassel rounded out the scoring for the Lights.
The MSU-N women’s team was led by ShaAnn Danelson finishing in 27th place, while Savannah Toms placed 28th.
Also at the tournament, former Blue Pony Caleb Spangler placed 22nd for the host Fighting Saints.
The Northern golf teams finish their fall season at next week’s Rocky Mountain Invitational in Billings.
Also, here’s to wishing the Blue Pony golf teams good luck at the Class A state tournament this weekend in Hamilton.
And with that, it’s time to say goodbye for another year. First my annual thank-you’s. Thank you to league secretaries C.J. Evans and Kelsey Ward for always getting me the information I need to make this column what it is all season long.
Of course, a big thank-you also goes out to the Baltrusch family at Prairie Farms and Craig and Heidi Miller at Beaver Creek Golf Course, and both of their staffs for giving us two awesome local golf courses to play on. Without ’em there would be no need for a From Tee to Green every spring, summer and fall.
Thank-you also goes out to all of the tournaments and their volunteers who help put them on, as so many tournaments in our area raise money for great causes.
Lastly, thank you to the golfers. This sport is alive and well in our community, and year-after-year, I still love writing this column every week and telling all of our golf stories for another season. It’s been great and it’s something that I still enjoy so much.
That said, it’s been another great season. It was hot, but it was a lot of fun. I hope you enjoyed your year on the course as much as I did, and I can’t wait for spring to get here so we can do it all over again.
Until then, enjoy the rest of your fall, try as best you can to enjoy the winter, and we’ll see you all when From Tee to Green returns in April.
