Just off of holding one successful community event, the group working to fix the aging Chinook City Pool and Sweet Park is setting up for another.

Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation, formed in 2021, held its Drool in the Pool event Sept. 8, and is preparing for its Brewfest to be held Oct. 1 in conjunction with Chinook's Sugarbeet Festival.

The group held its first ever Drool in the Pool to give area dogs the chance to swim in the Chinook pool.

"The event drew a decent crowd given the fact that it was chilly and rainy that evening, and the dogs seemed to have an absolute blast," a release said. "There was also a barbecue beef meal provided during the event and the fundraiser was an overall success for the first year.

"The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation are appreciative of the City of Chinook for allowing the use of the pool, Chinook High School for donating the tennis balls, the Hofeldt Family and the many volunteers that helped," the release added. "The foundation looks forward to making this an annual fun-filled event."

And its third annual brewfest will be held at Sweet Memorial Park that Saturday, Oct. 1.

The event will start at 4 p.m. at the park at 800 New York St., and it will feature many different craft beers, ciders and, new this year, wine will be available.

A barbecue hosted by the Blaine County Wildlife Museum also is part of the event, with cheeseburgers, baked beans, salads and a water for $10 a plate.

It will feature live music by the Stonebroke String Band, a silent auction, kids drawings and more.

New this year, non-alcoholic beverages will be available as the foundation will be bringing in freshly brewed root beer and cream soda from the Busted Knuckle Brewery in Glasgow.

The pricing is changed this year, with sampler Mugs $10 each, tickets are $3 each or people can get unlimited beers and a sampler mug for $35.

"Unlike last year, we will have a plethora of beer on-hand," the release said. "We did run out of beer in 2021 as our attendance was double what it was the prior Brewfest, but we have increased our beer this year and we are excited to have a fantastic turnout once again.

The release added that tower heaters will be available should it get chilly that evening as well as seating for those in attendance.

"We would also like to extend a huge thank you to all of our amazing sponsors, without them we could not have an event of this magnitude," the release said. "We also have the best volunteers and we are so very grateful for everyone who has donated their precious time to our event. Feel free to reach out to the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation with any questions you may have via email or phone, 406-945-7052 or [email protected]."

The event is also in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce's Annual Sugarbeet Festival where there will be vendors throughout the day, a parade at 3 p.m., as well as the Chinook Rod and Gun Club's Gun Show that will be happening at the Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Blaine County Cruisers will also be hosting a car show that day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m, a fun run is from from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Dog Costume Contest at Shore's Floral at 11 a.m., Pie Eating Contest at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street, cornhole tournament at Pastime Lounge at noon, Washer Toss at 12:30 p.m. at the Mint Bar, and the Lady in the Glass Look-Alike Contest at 1:30 p.m. at the Blaine County Museum.
