Local Golf Report: BCGC settles men's league chipper

From Tee to Green

The last of the league championships is in the books.

Last Monday, the Beaver Creek Men's League played its championship match with the RJS team beating Bacon 36.5 to 35.5 in the 18-hole finale at windy and hot BCGC. RJS is composed of Shane Patacsil, Andrew Wright, Cody Mattfeldt and A.J. Lamere. Bacon was made up of Gus Bacon, Jeff Henry, Joe Demontiney and Eddie Moore. Congrats to everyone on another great league season at BCGC.

Meanwhile, while adult golf in the area continues to wind down, high school and college golf marches on.

Last Thursday, the Havre High golf teams played the Lewistown Invite against Billings Central, Hardin and Fergus, where the Pony boys took second place and the HHS girls were third. The Havre girls also had two individual finishers with Shea Reber placing fourth and Cali Pyrak fifth.

The Pony varsity team is already down to the final two weeks of the regular season, as they head to Glendive Thursday and Sidney Friday.

The Blue Ponies also played host to their annual JV Invitational Tuesday at BCGC. Quinn Elliot was first for the Havre High boys, followed by Carter Spangler and Lane Kinsella. Brenna Hanson was in first place for the Blue Pony girls. Browning also competed in the tournament.

Meanwhile, the MSU-Northern golf teams are just getting started, and they will start with a bang.

The Lights and Skylights open the season with next week's MSU-N Invitational at Marias Valley Golf Club in Shelby. Northern will host the rest of the Frontier Conference in the seasons-opener for all teams. Northern will also travel to Helena for the Carroll College Invitational Sept. 19-20 and they'll be in Billings Oct. 3-4 for the Rocky Mountain Invitational.

Good luck to the Ponies and Lights on the remainder of the season.

And speaking of seasons, this column won't be around much longer as we transition out of the golf 2022 season. The final From Tee to Green for this year will be published Sept. 20, so anything like results or more that you want to mention, please contact me at [email protected] and I'll get your info in.
