Lane Kinsella ready to get back on the golf course for the Blue Ponies
The fall sports season is finally back as the Havre High golf teams begin their seasons this week. After competing in the Fergus County Invite in Lewistown today, the Blue Ponies will return home to compete in the Havre Invite Thursday. Lane Kinsella looks forward to getting back on the golf course this week to begin his senior season.
"I'm looking forward to it. I believe that we're going to do pretty good," Kinsella said about the Havre Invite. "Everybody's going to step up this weekend."
Golf has always been a fixture in Kinsella's life. At a young age, he was introduced to the game by his grandfather. As he became more familiar with the game, Kinsella also began playing golf with both his father and mother. As the family played together on the course, Kinsella believes it brought the family together.
"It was fun. We went out and played as a family," Kinsella said.
Over the years, Kinsella has worked on his game. During his time in the HHS golf program, Kinsella always practiced in order to improve. He credits his coaches such as HHS golf head coach George Ferguson for helping him fix his swing.
"I learned to cut down my strokes," Kinsella said about his improvement. "My score is getting better and better. In my opinion, I'm cutting down strokes every time."
Kinsella will look to continue his improvement as he begins his senior season this week. Kinsella and the Ponies will compete in the Havre Invite tomorrow at 9 a.m. The tournament will take place at both Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course. Spectators will be welcome to watch the tournament and root for the Ponies.
The Ponies will face many teams at the Havre Invite. Along with Lewistown, the Ponies will host Browning, Great Falls High and CMR. Before he gets back on the golf course to face this competition, the Havre Daily News got the chance to ask Kinsella five questions.
