School board approves contracts

Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday to approve a number of new paraprofessionals for the district as well as approve union contracts with paraprofessionals and building administrators.

HPS Superintendent Craig Mueller said, due to their recent job fair, they got a bunch of new paraproffessionals as well as people to fill extracurricular and teaching positions at the middle school on a part-time basis.

Muller also said they reached an agreement for a 1-year contract with the district’s paraprofessionals that will include a 4.75 percent increase in salaries and a 6 percent increase in district contributions to insurance plans.

He said a three-year contract with building administators was also reached, one that includes a 2.5 percent raise in salaries each year over the course of the contract.

All three items were passed unanimously, and Mueller thanked board members for their efforts in the negotiations.
