Skylights announce exciting 2022-23 hoops schedule

The Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team always likes to play a tough, and exciting non-conference schedule. And as fall approaches, the Skylights, of longtime head coach Chris Mouat, announced that upcoming schedule.

Northern will open its season Oct. 28 with a home game against The Kings University from Edmonton, Alberta. That game begins a three-game home stand for the Skylights, which also includes a game against Dickinson State Nov. 1 in the Armory Gymnasium, and a home game against Augustana University Nov. 10.

Northern's first road game of 2022 will come Nov. 20 when the Skylights play Willamette in Helena, before they return home for a game against NAIA rival Campbellsville Nov. 25.

MSU-N's challenging non-conference schedule also includes a return game at Dickinson State on Dec. 6, as well as a home game Dec. 8 against Salish Kootenai College. That game will be Northern's Field Trip game, which tips off at 11 a.m. and will be available to all local school children to attend. The Skylights then play an exhibition game at NCAA DII MSU-B Billings Dec. 10, while the rest of the month features more tough NAIA games in Phoenix, as well as home games against St. Mary's University Dec. 29, Keyano College Dec. 30 and Bethesda University Dec. 31.

Frontier Conference play meanwhile, will keep the same format as last season, where teams will play each other three times, with games Thursday night's at 5 p.m. and Saturday's at 2 p.m. The Frontier schedule begins with the December doubleheader where Northern plat at Providence Dec. 1 and at home against Carroll College Dec. 3.

January starts with the Skylights facing Rocky Mountain College Jan. 5 and Montana Western Jan. 7 at home. Northern then plays four straight on the road, starting at Montana Tech Jan. 12 and Carroll Jan. 14. The Skylights travel to Providence Jan. 19 and RMC Jan. 21. Following the four-game road trip, Northern plays four straight at home, starting with Western Jan. 26 and Tech Jan. 28. February begins with the Skylights taking on Carroll Jan. 2 and UP Jan. 4 in the Armory, before heading to RMC Feb. 9 and Western Feb. 11. The Skylights then wrap up the regular season with Montana Tech Feb. 16 in the Armory.

The Frontier playoffs will run Feb. 21-28 at home sites around the league.
