Local Golf Report: Blue Pony golf meeting tonight

Welcome to August. While fall golf is usually pretty awesome, typically speaking, August marks the last month of the peak golf season around these parts.

And with plenty of tournaments, league playoffs and high school and college golf, August is a very busy month.

On the tournament front, this weekend, the annual Duel on the Prairie Member/Guest will be held at Prairie Farms Golf Course, and there are still a few slots available. Meanwhile, the Frank Henry Memorial will be played at Beaver Creek Golf Course. Both tournaments are big ones.

In league play, last Tuesday night’s men’s league at Prairie Farms saw Prairie Farms earn high-team honors. The team was composed of Greg Baltrusch, Hoover Peterson, Chuck Wimmer and Shawn Keeley. CJ Evans shot a stellar 2-under 34 for low gross, while Trey Brown was low net with a 30. Last Wednesday night saw Baltrusch Outfitting take high team. Kyle Kirkpatrick, Rob The Boy, Jeff Ralph and Shane Kemmer made up the winning squad. Kyle Miller was low gross with a 37, while Kirkpatrick was low net with a 27.

In ladies league, last Thursday night was a makeup night. High teams with 22.5 points were Northern Montana Hospital, with Carol Culp, Kelsie Briese, Jami Britt and Klesey Ward composing the team, and Prairie Farms Golf Course, with Sarah Spangler, Kesley Sage, Chandra Moomey and Courtney Wendland composing the squad. Katie Heath and Ali Ward shared low gross, each shooting 39 and Britt was low net at 32.

Finally, one last reminder, anyone interested in playing Havre High golf should attend the player signup meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Prairie Farms Golf Course.
