The Salvation Army and Walmart are teaming up next week to push the back-to-school program to another level.
The Stuff the Bus school supply drive will be at Havre’s Walmart next week from Monday through Saturday.
People can drop backpacks and school supplies in the box shaped like a bus in the store on the west edge of Havre.
“Your donation is greatly appreciated and will help the local kids get ready for school,” a release said.
Salvation Army is taking applications from families in need in the Havre area for supplies, with the Stuff the Bus drive helping with that.
Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods also is helping out with its $25 back to school backpack drive. Every $25 donation will provide a local student with a backpack and basic school supplies.
For the Stuff the Bus drive or for donations dropped off at the Salvation Army Office at 328 Third St., The Salvation Army is looking for 4 oz. and 8 oz. white school glue, glue sticks, three-pack highlighters, colored pencils, #2 pencils — people are asked not to donate Dixon pencils — washable cone-tip markers, small markers, watercolors, one-subject wide-ruled notebooks, one-subject college-ruled notebooks, wide-ruled paper in loose packages, college-ruled paper in loose packages, 1-inch and 1 1/2-inch three-ring binders, eraser caps, pink erasers, five-subject notebooks, two-pocket folders with prongs, dry-erase markers, zippered binders, protractors, pencil sharpeners, blunt scissors, 17-inch backpacks, 18-inch backpacks and 19-inch backpacks, boxes of facial tissue, antibacterial wipes, plastic pencil boxes, zippered pencil pouches, composition notebooks and two-pocket folders in six different colors a release from the Havre Salvation Army said.
Supplies need to be to the office by Aug. 17.
The distribution of the school supplies will be Monday, Aug. 22, and Tuesday, Aug. 23.
To apply for receiving the supplies, people can stop by The Salvation Army Office at 328 Third St. or email [email protected] or [email protected].
Documentation needed for the application is a picture ID from the adult filling out the form, Social Security cards or birth certificates for every family member, proof of residency, proof of income and having the names of students’ teachers is helpful.
Applications must be on file by Aug. 17.
