Memorial ride for Bill Arvin set for Saturday

Friends of local motorcycle enthusiast and 40-year U.S. Army veteran Bill Arvin, who died in October of last year, will be holding a memorial ride in town Saturday in his name, a ride that will raise money for K9 Care of Montana.

Ron Fanning, a lifelong friend of Arvin, said they served in the military together for many years and he was a genuine person who knew many people in the local community, a good motorcycle mechanic and a good man.

“We were battle buddies in Iraq,” Fanning said. “… And I’ve known him since I was 12 years old.”

He said registration for the event begins Saturday morning at 9 with the ride starting at 10 and ending at about 4 p.m., all at the Tip It Bar in Havre.

“It’s for anybody, anybody that knew Bill,” he said.

Fanning said any money raised by the event will go to K9 Care of Montana which provides service dogs to veterans, first responders and children with autism.
