Great Northern Fair Board praises successful 2022 Great Northern Fair

Kaul give thanks to volunteers

The Great Northern Fair Board praised this year's fair and thanked everyone involved for their hard work making it happen at a meeting at the fairgrounds Community Center Wednesday.

Fair Board member Bob Kaul said Great Northern Fairgrounds Manager Frank English put in a tremendous amount of work for the fair, but it ultimately would not be possible to put on without a substantial number of people volunteering their time.

The meeting was posted on the fair website as occurring Wednesday, July 20.

Havre Daily News cannot find that it ever received notice of a meeting or the meeting agenda.

Board Chair Michelle Burchard said at the meeting that the lack of notice was due to an oversight due to the business of the fair.

Kaul said he's thankful to live in a community with so many generous people who are willing to give their time for free.

"I can't say thank you enough," he said.

Fair Board member Ken Erickson said he's extremely happy with the fair and the board appeared to be in agreement.

Board Chair Michelle Burchard said they don't have official numbers yet, but financially the fair did extremely well, and they will see how much of the money they made can go toward the long-term projects being worked on at the grounds.

Kaul said there's plenty to do on the grounds with many projects in the works including upgrades to the Bigger Better Barn.

Burchard also provided her own thank-you to Pacific Steel & Recycling, E1 Towing & Auto Repair and EVOLVE Electric for donating the materials for the new tin above the food court, as well as the volunteers who did the work putting it up.
