As the Great Northern Fair makes its return to Havre, so too does the Great Northern RAM Rodeo this week. This Thursday and Friday night at the Great Northern Fairgrounds, the best riders from the Northern Rodeo Association will compete.
Over the two days, professional riders will compete in a variety of events such as bareback riding. In that event, Bucky McAlpine from Anaconda will compete as he is second in the standings this season. Dalton May from Kalispell will also compete as he is sixth in the standings this year in the event.
In steer wrestling, Brady Boyce from Lewistown will compete as he is third in the standings this year. Ben Ayre from Glendive will compete in Havre this weekend as he is fourth in the standings. Ryder Gaasche from Dillon and Reno Ward from Deer Lodge are also in the top 10 of the standings in the event and will compete in the event. Other riders competing in steer wrestling this weekend include Landon Burleigh, Cole Burman, Riley Joyce and Kaiden White Bear.
The breakaway roping event should also have some strong riders this weekend. Alexa Wilcox from Sunset is third in the event's standings this season. Celie Salmond will also compete in the event as she is fifth in the standings. Other top riders competing in breakaway roping this weekend include Tiffany Ogren from Hysham and Paige Rasmussen from Bozeman.
Tie down roping will also take place at the rodeo this weekend. Taylen Lytle from Cut Bank will compete in the event as he is second in the standings. Ayre will also compete in tie down roping as he is third in the standings. Quinn McQueary from Belgrade, who is fifth in the standings, should be another name to watch out for in the event.
In saddle bronc riding, Garrett Cunningham from Broadus will compete for the top prize as he is first in the standings. Jason Colclough from Two Dot is another top rider in the standings who will compete in the saddle bronc. Judd Applegate from Deer Lodge will also contend for the top prize this weekend. Other riders competing in the saddle bronc this weekend include Chase Feaser, Miles Graveley, Dusty Henderson, Caleb Meeks and Phillip Rising Sun III.
Several professional riders will also compete in team roping this weekend. Ayre will compete in the event as he is atop of the standings for team rope headers. Ian Austiguy from Dillon, David Wold from Plentywood, Dustin Bird from Cut Bank and Miles Kobold from Huntley will also compete as they are all top five team rope headers this season.
Many of the best team rope heelers in the NRA will also compete this weekend. John Graham from Glasgow will compete this weekend as the top team rope heeler in the NRA. Other top team rope heelers competing this weekend include Bill Ayre from Glendive, Sam Levine from Wolf Creek, Ike Folsom from Jackson and Clinton Brower from Lander.
In the barrel racing event, many of the top riders will compete this weekend. Molly Salmond from Choteau, who is atop the standings, should be the favorite this weekend. Cierra Erickson from Helena should be another rider to look out for. Other riders in barrel racing this weekend include Lisa Warfield from Helena, Alicia Bird from Cut Bank and Darby Haskins from Superior.
And probably the most exciting event of the rodeo, the bull riding, will have many strong competitors. Cameron Falcon from Cut Bank should be a contender for the top prize while Kobe Whitford from Cut Bank should provide some stiff competition. Other riders competing in the event this weekend include Taylor Boyer, Bridger Fitzpatrick, Sean Gibson, Cory Evertz, Walker Fenner, Ethan Liddle and Kody Gunderson.
There will also be some junior events this Thursday and Friday. In the junior barrels, Tye Brown from Helena should be the favorite as they are atop the standings. Bailey and Brooke Billingsley from Glasgow should also contend for the top prize this weekend. Havre local Kenzie Kallenberger will also be a name to look out for in the junior barrels.
In the junior breakaway, Brooke Billingsley should be the favorite as she is first in the standings this season. Teigan Wilcox from Absarokee and Bailey Billingsley have also had excellent seasons in the junior breakaway this year. Ty Kittson from Harlem and JP Cornwell from Glasgow will also compete in the junior breakaway this weekend.
Like every other year, the Great Northern RAM rodeo should not be missed if you are at the fair this weekend. With all the professional riders, they should put on a show. The Great Northern RAM Rodeo will begin this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Great Northern Fairgrounds. The rodeo will then continue Friday at 7 p.m.
