Local Golf Report: More youth golf coming to Havre

Plenty of opportunities for youth golfers to grow their game around these parts.

Former Havre High great Jeremy Jensen is once again holding is annual Youth Summer League at Prairie Farms Golf Course. The league is open to boys and girls entering grades 6-9 and is limited to the first 20 kids. The league starts July 12 and runs every Tuesday through Aug. 9 from 8 a.m to noon. Speaking of Prairie Farms, league golf continued last week as the second half of the 2022 season got underway. Last Tuesday saw Tire Rama score 22 points for high-team honors. The team was made up of Lunar Evans, CJ Evans, Jeremy Jensen and Jeff Jensen. Dustin Haas was low gross with a 37, while Jake Myers was low net at 34.

On Wednesday night, Loch Electric was high team with 23.5 points. Jacob LaBrie, Ryan Bakke, Ivar Aageson and Gunnar Aageson made up the squad. Jerod Boles and Jeremy Jensen each shot 1-under par for low gross, while Tom Adams was low net with a 32.

The first half of the men's league season saw Hole 19 and Tire Rama tie for first on Tuesday night, while Vic's and Prairie Farms also qualified for the playoffs. On Wednesday night, Independence Bank took first, followed by HUB Insurance, Korb Construction and Gallery Lounge.

There was no ladies league last Thursday night at Prairie Farms as they took a break for the Fourth of July holiday. Last Thursday at Beaver Creek Golf Course, men's league continued on with BCGC currently in first place in the standings.

The tournament schedule resumes this weekend, with the annual Rotary Blast Sunday at Prairie Farms. The tourney is a two-person, modified stableford scoring tourney. To sign up, contact the Pro Shop at Prairie Farms. BCGC's tourney slate resumes next weekend with Money Tournament.
