Water from Beaver Creek spills over its banks and fills the flat by the pavilion at Lions Campground in Beaver Creek this afternoon. Due to the flooding in the Bear Paw Mountains, the Chippewa Cree Natural Resources Department of Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation has announced it is closing access to the Bear Paw Mountains in both the Beaver Creek and Sandy Creek area. As Beaver Creek Park sees some flooding on campsites, Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation are restricting access to some parts of the Bear Paw Mountains due to flooding.
The Chippewa Cree Tribe Natural Resource Department announced in a post on the tribe's official Facebook page that it was declaring closure of the Bear Paw Mountains in both the Beaver Creek and Big Sandy Creek areas until further notice.
The post said the deprartment wojuld reevaluate the situation Friday.
National Weather Service said about 4:30 this afternoon that the storm event hitting the area dropped about 3.05 inches in the northwest part of the Bear Paws at that time.
