Best of the Hi-Line set to compete at Class B-C State Track and Field Meet

As the spring sports season comes to an end, many programs will be looking to end things on a strong note. While many eyes will be on how Havre High does this weekend, the efforts of other Hi-Line schools should not go unnoticed. This weekend at the Class B-C State Track and Field Meet in Great Falls, several District 9C schools will represent the Hi-Line.

Many schools and their athletes will look to end their seasons with a state title. After winning the state title last season, the Fort Benton boys track team will look to win another title. If the Longhorns are going to repeat, they will need their best athletes to perform well.

The Longhorns have several athletes looking to carry over their success from the Northern C Divisional meet last weekend. Devin Bird took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.69. Landis Arganbright also did well in the 400 with a time of 53.49 to take third. In the 200 at divisionals, Mateo Socorro finished second with a time of 23.23.

Dane Byle will look to do well at state after a great performance at divisionals. He finished second in the long jump with a distance of 20-02 and he took second in the discus with a distance of 139-04. He also finished third in the shot put with a distance of 42-08.

Tim Lane took third in the pole vault with a height of 11-06 and Colter Ball finished second in the javelin with a distance of 152-03. In the 1,600 relay, the Fort Benton team of Arganbright, Lane, Bird and Kaden Back finished second at divisionals with a time of 3:36.76.

The Fort Benton girls team will look to do well at state after finishing third last season. After taking second at divisionals, the Longhorns aim to continue their postseason success.

At divisionals, Cloe Kalanick took first in both the shot put and the discus. She posted a distance of 36-01 in the shot put and she recorded a distance of 124-04 in the discus. Kylynn Nack did well at divisionals as she took first in the pole vault with a height of 7-03.

Jenna Dunham will look to carry over her performance from divisionals to state. She took first in the 200 with a time of 26.76 and she took third in the 100 with a time of 13.43. Angeline Reimer will look to do well in the high jump after taking first at divisionals with a height of 4-10.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters have several athletes looking to perform well at state. Both Chinook track teams are coming off fifth-place finishes at divisionals. Toby Niederegger looks to end the year strong after taking first at divisionals at the high jump with a height of 6-02. Hunter Molyneaux is coming off a third-place finish in the long jump at divisionals with a distance of 19-11.

The Chinook girls team also has several athletes looking to do well at state. Hallie Neibauer is coming off second-place finishes in the 400 and the 800 at divisionals. She posted a time of 1:04.28 in the 400 and a time of 2:31.12 in the 800. Alexus Seymour is also coming off a third-place finish at divisionals with a time of 2:32.91.

Anna Terry ran well in the long distance at divisionals and hopes to carry that over to state. She is coming off a second-place finish with a time of 12:43.88 in the 3,200 and a third-place finish with a time of 5:54.67 in the 1,600. In the 1,600 relay, the Chinook team of Seymour, Terry, Neibauer and Aspyn Colby is coming off a third-place finish at divisionals with a time of 4:31.70.

The Chester-Joplin-Inverness track teams both placed sixth at divisionals to qualify several athletes for state. Bryce Kammerzell is coming off third-place finishes in both the 110-meter hurdles and the javelin. At divisionals, he posted a time of 17.34 in the 110 hurdles and a distance of 147-10 in the javelin.

Kyle Harmon will look to do well in the 100 after taking third in the event with a time of 11.54 at divisionals. His teammate Ryder Cole is coming off a second-place finish in the pole vault at divisionals with a height of 12-00.

Tatum Hull is ready to carry over her success from divisionals into state. She just took first in the 100 with a time of 13.11 and she took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.14. She also took second in the 200 with a time of 26.86 and she finished third in the long jump with a distance of 15-07.5.

The North Star Knights have several athletes competing at state this weekend. Carter Campbell will look to continue his strong start to the postseason after taking first in the 800 at divisionals with a time of 2:07.09. At divisionals, he also took third in the 3,200 with a time of 10:57.01. His teammate Gavin Clawson qualified for state after taking second in the shot put with a distance of 46-06.5 at divisionals.

On the North Star girls team, Kaytlyn Domire qualified for state in the discus and the javelin. At divisionals, she placed second in the javelin with a distance of 104-00 and she took third in the discus with a distance of 100-08. As the Knights head into divisionals, North Star head coach Brian Campbell feels good about their chances.

"I am really excited about how we performed at the divisional meet last week. My expectation is that my team carries that into this weekend's meet," Campbell said. "I think it is an advantage that we are competing in Great Falls because we are familiar with the track. All of the individuals that qualified for the Knights have a chance to make finals and to ultimately place."

The Big Sandy Pioneers will also be represented at state this weekend. Wylee Snapp will look to do well in the discus after taking third at divisionals with a distance of 133-00. From the girls team, Eva Yeadon is coming off a second-place finish in the high jump at divisionals with a height of 4-10. Jaihven Baumann did well at divisionals as she took second in the triple jump with a distance of 32-04.

Other Hi-Line schools at this meet include Rocky Boy and Harlem, who will compete in the Class B meet. From Rocky Boy, Kellen Colliflower will compete in the 110-meter hurdles after he took third in the event at divisionals with a time of 16.88.

Harlem also has several athletes competing at this weekend's event. Chloe Messerly will compete in the javelin and the discus after doing well in both events at divisionals. She took first in the javelin with a distance of 115-03 and she finished third in the discus with a distance of 91-08. Kaitlyn Johnson also qualified for state after taking second in the 300-meter hurdles at divisionals with a time of 50.83.

With this weekend being their last time on the track this spring, these athletes from the Hi-Line will look to end the season strong. The Class B-C Track and Field Meet began on Thursday and will run through Saturday in Great Falls.
