Saddler convicted in hit-and-run death case

Sentencing set for May 26 for death of Arkinson in 2019

A woman was convicted in Rocky Boy Tribal Court Wednesday on multiple counts stemming from the hit-and-run crash death of pedestrian Lacey Arkinson in 2019.

A six-person jury convicted Shoshana Saddler, 36, of negligent homicide, obstructing justice, tampering with evidence and failing to report an accident, tribal prosecutor Steve Henry said this morning.

A sentencing hearing is set for May 26, Henry said.

Arkinson, who was 16, was killed Dec. 12, 2019, when she was struck by a vehicle while walking along Laredo Road near its intersection with Upper Box Elder Road.

Rocky Boy police responded to a call at 11:11 p.m. that night reporting a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The suspect vehicle fled before officers arrived.

Arkinson was pronounced dead on the scene.

Rocky Boy’s Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI investigated and a reward for information was offered.

Vigils and memorials have been held for Arkinson since her death. She was a popular and active student at Rocky Boy High School.
