Havre's best athletes compete in Glasgow

While most of the athletes on the Havre High track and field teams got a rest Tuesday, some Blue Ponies went to Glasgow to compete in the Norm Girard North/East Top 10 meet. At the competition, the Ponies competed against athletes from other Class A schools as well as other athletes from across the Hi-Line. Even against some of the best in the region, many Ponies stood out.

Brayden Kimberling continued his strong season for the Ponies as he took first in the 200-meter sprint with a time of 23.66. He also placed second in the 100-meter sprint with a finish of 11.61.

Caleb Tomac took first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:37.68. Kale VanCampen also performed well for Havre as he took first in the triple jump with a distance of 41-05.

For the Ponies, Orion Thivierge finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 40-09.5. In the javelin, Zach Monk took fourth with a distance of 146-00. Brisbin Reiter had a solid outing with fifth-place finishes in both the 100 and the 200. In the 100, he recorded a time of 11.73 and in the 200, he posted a time of 24.08.

Many other Ponies ran well Tuesday. Shane Patacsil finished second in the 400 with a time of 54.46. Just behind him in third in the 400 was Trayden Riley with a time of 54.69. Brody Henry took third in the 800 with a time of 2:07.17. In the 200, Michael Emge finished third with a time of 24.00.

The HHS boys relay teams had another strong performance Tuesday. In the 400 relay, the team consisting of Reiter, Patacsil, Kimberling and Carson Harris took third with a finish of 46.48. In the 1,600 relay, the team of Tomac, Riley, Henry and Patacsil took first with a time of 3:42.41.

Many athletes from the HHS girls track team performed well on Tuesday. Kaydance Reiter continued her strong freshman season as she took first in the 100 and she finished second in the 200. In the 100, she posted a time of 13.65 and in the 200, she recorded a time of 26.99.

Kyanna Jarvis also performed well in multiple events. In the 100-meter hurdles, she took second with a time of 17.08. She finished fourth in the high jump with a distance of 4-10.

Macee May did well Tuesday in several events. She finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 15-08 and in the 100, she posted a time of 14.05 to finish fifth. Hailey Gingery ran well for the Ponies as she finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:28.90.

The HHS girls relay teams also ran well. The team of Reiter, May, Jarvis and Sadie Filius took first in the 400 relay with a time of 52.36. In the 1,600 relay, the group of Filius, Gingery, Jarvis and Reiter finished third with a time of 4:22.93.

With this being the top 10 meet, team scores were not kept. So the next time the Ponies compete as a team will be when they return home to the Havre Middle School Track for the Havre Invite this Saturday.
