News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

Out the window

You know, Lord, curious things happen, now and then. A friend said that she and her hubby had started a Gratitude Book: Every day they would/could write one thing for which they were thankful for.  She gave a few examples as we just looked at her, Like, really? She smiled and said, "How about you. Just look out your window and thank God for the gifts He has given you/us." Then she named her shed, butterflies, streaks of lightning. We laughed then thought, why not?

Once home, what did we see out our window? The little neighbor kids were riding their tricycles and bikes, up and down their street having a great time. A near neighbor on the other side of our house had finished landscaping their place, then helped their elderly neighbors by mowing their lawn. Oh!  It's gardening time, too.

The birdbath was being enjoyed mostly by robins, drinking and bathing, but a mourning dove sipped only a little bit as did a large blackbird and a sparkly red-necked woodpecker, sipped, too. We mustn't forget swings in a nearby park, nor a porch with fake flowers nearby, shrubs, too, and oh – maybe rain is due to give us a puddle or two.

Another neighbor was cleaning off his driveway and sidewalk, then parked his new black pickup near the garage. A fence separated them from a field where cattle and new baby calves were.

Sunrises and sunsets are lovely - with or without a variety of fabulous clouds. Rainbows, and the moon, we can't forget the lovely full moon!

O! We have so much to thank You for, Lord. We are reminded of John 21:25: "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."

Love, Mara
