From Tee to Green
With some spring-like weather returning to the area, local golfers can finally get back on the course, for the time being. Of course, that can change quickly with the kind of spring we’re having.
Yes, the weather has been downright rough on the start of golf season. To put it in perspective, the first 15 days of April were the coldest on average in history, with Havre’s average daily high for that stretch hovering at just above 34 degrees. And that was with the 74 degree day back on April 8. Some other parts of the state were even colder. For example, in the first 15 days of April, Whitefish’s average daily high was just above 30 degrees. The normal average daily high for Havre in April is 57 degrees. So to say it’s been cold is a gross understatement.
Yet, despite all of that, golf season is indeed here. And soon, tournaments will even be starting, including the Golfing for a Cure Tournament at Prairie Farms Golf Course. That event, a two-man, two-woman scramble, is set for June 4, and is put on by the Havre Women’s Golf Association. Teams can register at Prairie Farms, Scharfe, Kato & Co. and Hill County Printing. The tournament is also holding a Crunch for Cause night at Taco John’s Thursday night.
The Prairie Farms tournament schedule also includes the MSU-Northern Tournament, June 11, the Natalie Patrick June 18, the Rotary Blast July 10, the Member-Guest Aug. 6-7 and the Havre Youth Baseball Tournament Aug. 20.
Hoping to have more local tournament schedules for Beaver Creek Golf Course and Chinook Golf Club coming soon. If you’d like to have your tournament information posted in the From Tee to Green, please email me at [email protected].
