Quiet time
You know, Lord, we hunger for sacred space and yearn for quiet time. We know that You are always ready and willing to meet us in that space. We must study, meditate, praise, and pray so that divine space becomes the highlight of our daily journey so that we can experience pure peace in Your loving presence. A friend shared this poem, credit was given to the American Presbyterian Clergywomen in 2001 titled:
Quiet time with the Lord:
I have often stopped to wonder, why I am always in a hurry?
Can I make it through the daylight without some fuss and worry?
When the night has come upon me and I take time to settle down.
I hurry to my sacred space and the quiet nighttime sound.
There is something about that quietness that brings me face to face
With all my daily failures that confront me in that space.
But, oh, the peace and joy as I talk with God alone.
Not bothered by the chatter or the ringing of the phone.
It is in that sacred space that peace and joy abide.
All of life's encounters temporarily tossed aside.
Now when the day is over and my day's work is done,
I hurry to that sacred place to meet God's only son.
Then it dawns upon me, striking a very familiar chord,
I am in a hurry to spend quiet time with the Lord.
Dear Lord, we long to know you better. Help us on our journey to find that sacred space that will bring us closer to You. Most of us long for sacred space where You, Lord, reside, where we can escape life's demands. If we can just be still and listen, leaving all our burning questions and troubling thoughts behind, we can experience calmness, peace and a deep sense of Your presences. Thank You, Lord.
Love, Mara
