Finally getting to play a softball season, Havre High junior Molly Huse is thriving. In the Blue Ponies’ home opener two weeks ago, Huse went 4-for-4 with a homer and seven RBIs as Havre blasted Lewistown 17-2 at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field. Huse, who is an All-Conference volleyball player and a member of the HHS state championship basketball team, missed last softball season with an injury. Huse hit another home run later that week in Lewistown.
The weather has been rough, but it wasn’t at the April 8 Havre Lions Invitational Track Meet, and that’s where North Star’s Gavin Clawson swept the shot put and discus events. Clawson tossed the shot put 44-01 to win, then hurled the discus 121-04 to win what has been the only local track meet so far this season. The Cal Wearley Invite, hosted by North Star, was postponed earlier this month. Clawson is also a member of the Knights’ football and basketball teams.
