When the annual Montana-Wyoming All-Star Girls and Boys Basketball Series convenes in June, the Hi-Line is going to be well-represented.
Earlier this month, the rosters were announced for the Montana teams, with three area girls slated to play.
Havre High senior Sadie Filius, a four-time Class A All-State performer and a member of three Class A state championship teams including the team that just won the 2022 last month, will be on the Montana roster, coached by Rocky Mountain College mentor Wes Keller. Filius is headed to play for Carroll College next fall.
Joining Filius on the Montana squad will also be Harlem's Taya Trottier. The three-time Class B All-State selection averaged nearly 24 points per game this season in leading the Wildcats to an appearance at the Class B state tournament last month in Bozeman. Trottier is set to play for the Montana State University-Northern Skylights this coming fall.
Box Elder's Kyla Momberg is also on the Montana team. Scoring nearly 20 points per game this past season, Momberg, a three-time Class B All-State selection, helped the Bears all the way to the Class C state championship game last month in Great Falls. Momberg is signed to play for Montana Western next season.
Bailee Sayler and Keke Davis will represent Class AA runner-up Missoula Hellgate, while future Montana State University Billings hooper Kaitlin Grossman of Billings West and Rocky Mountain College commit Brenna Linse of Billings Senior round out the Class AA players. The 2022 Gatorade player of the year Mya Hansen of runner-up Billings Central, Melstone's Draya Wacker and Roy-Winifred's Madeline Heggem round out the girls roster.
The boys roster is headlined by Gatorade player of the year Brayden Koch of State AA champion Helena Capital. He's joined by Jackson Basye and Ty Huse of runner-up Bozeman, Payton Sanders of Billings Skyview, Ta'Veus Randle of Belgrade and Caden Batemen of Missoula Big Sky as Class AA representatives. Two-time State B champion Damon Gros Ventre of Lodge Grass leads the Class B selections, and he's joined by University of Montana commit Rhett Reynolds of Shelby and Owen Long of State B champion Three Forks. Froid-Medicine Lake, the Class C runner-up, sends Javonne Nesbit as the lone Class C player on the roster.
The boys team has Hi-Line connections as well. Reynolds, headed to the University of Montana, is the son of Tom Reynolds, a former Havre High star, while Huse is the nephew of Northern men's coach Shawn Huse.
Steve Keller will once again lead the boys team, which hasn't lost since Keller took over in 2012.
The series begins June 17 in Sheridan, Wyoming, then shifts to Billings on June 18. The game in Billings will be played at Lockwood High School.
