Montana State University-Northern head men's basketball coach Shawn Huse has added a Montana prep standout to his 2022 recruiting class.
Last week, Huse announced the signing of Rogan Barnwell of CMR High School in Great Falls. The 6-3 guard out of Great Falls was a second-team All-Conference selection this year, finishing seventh in scoring in the Class AA at 15.3 points per game and sixth in steals at 2.4 per game. He led the Rustlers in points and was second in rebounds this year, with his highlight game being eight three's and 34 points en route to a 75-60 Feb. 5 win over Belgrade High School. Rogan plans to major in education while at MSU-Northern.
"Rogan had a great season overall," Huse said. "A season which was on pace to be an exceptional finish for he and the Rustlers ... until the end of their year when the sickness bugs pretty much derailed his and his teammates' momentum in the 2021-22 campaign. He is a great guy and teammate both on and off the court, as well as a very strong student in the classroom. He works on his game tirelessly and can do a lot of things from the wing position. Shooting ability, length, and athleticism are attributes that Rogan possesses. He is a guy with a great deal of potential for the college game. Northern is a good fit for him academically, we are extremely excited he chose to come on board, and we look forward to watching his progress and development moving forward."
The Lights are coming off another good season, winning 19 games and earning a home playoff game vs Rocky Mountain College. After advancing, their season came to an end in a close loss at Carroll College. They return a great deal of experience from the 2021-22 team, after graduating their two exceptional seniors.
Barnwell is the second signee for the Lights in the last two weeks.
