Clerk and Recorder's Office needs change

Hello, my name is Tina Louise Salazar, and I am running for the office of Clerk and Recorder.

I’m originally from Texas and my education and experience make me the best person for the office of clerk and recorder. I’ve always considered running for office, but it wasn’t until I became a resident in Havre, Montana, that I decided to run.

When I arrived in Havre, I was worried that people wouldn’t be friendly or that I’d never feel part of a community like I did in Texas, but I was wrong. The people that I have met here are welcoming, warm and friendly. People in Hill County make you feel part of a community.

When I applied at Hill County Office of Clerk and Recorder, I thought it would just be a job to meet people within the community, build new friendships and do a job I’ve never done before. I took the position because like any ambitious person there is room to grow. I never thought I’d be running for office in a place where I only know a handful of people, but it’s because of those people who saw the potential in me to want to make a change not just in myself but for the people of Hill County that I decided to run.

Before I decided to run for office, I asked myself two questions: Can I make impactful changes that will benefit the people of Hill County? Can I make a difference within the Clerk and Recorders Office? Those helped me to decided that I should run for office.

I’m not running for office for a promotion because with hard work and dedication to any job I can receive a promotion anywhere. Running for office is wanting to serve the community and the people in the community. To run for office, you must think of others, their wants and needs to see how to improve on what is already established.

Most people running for office make promises that are in hopes of securing a vote, but I am not that person. I want to listen to you, Hill County, I want to see what I can improve and like in any position there will always be things I want to improve but just can’t or need more time. I want to lead with change.

This office needs to change. I don’t only want to make changes for the community to benefit but the employees in the office as well. The people who work there need to feel pride in their work and know that this isn’t just a job, it’s knowing that what they do daily that makes a difference in and out of the community. The people of Hill County need to hold the office accountable to a higher standard.

As a community if you can help make suggestions to make the office more accessible, transparent, beneficial to the public, I welcome the advice.

If elected, I will do whatever it takes to ensure that I am up to the responsibilities and challenges the position entails. I humbly ask for your vote and your support in the upcoming election.
