Lights' basketball lands Michigan standout guard

The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball program has added a new standout for the 2022-23 season.

Coach Shawn Huse has announced the signing of 6-1 guard Myles Dalton, of Commerce Township, Michigan. The two-time All-Conference guard led his team to one of the best finishes in recent history for Wayne County - of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association. While there he performed as an efficient, do-it-all guard spearheading the attack on 12 points per game and 45 percent 3-point shooting. On a well-rounded team this year, Dalton led in points and in steals, and was second in assists. Dalton's academic plans include majoring in integrated health sciences and biology while at MSU-Northern.

"Myles is an explosive, smart, guard who plays winning basketball. And he does it against high level talent and defenses," Huse said. "He shoots a high percentage, has great handles, sees the floor extremely well, and communicates and makes plays defensively with his exceptional quickness. What I really like about Myles is he plays a smart game and fits in well with how we play. He knows how to find people using creative passes and simple passes. He makes the right reads. And oh by the way, he elevates extremely well on jump-shots from every spot on the floor - at the rim, in the mid-range, and behind the arc. We are excited to have someone of his caliber with the experience and maturity to step right in and help check some boxes to help with our immediate needs."

The Lights are coming off another good season, winning 19 games and earning a home playoff game vs Rocky Mountain College. After advancing, their season came to an end in a close loss at Carroll College. They return a great deal of experience from the 2021-22 team, after graduating their two exceptional seniors.
