The District 9C high school boys basketball season came to an end a few weeks ago, but the district's best players are finally being recognized for their performance over the year. While only a few were named Class C All-State, the District 9C All-Conference teams honored many players from across the north-central Montana.
The Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks had a strong year as they won the District 9C boys basketball tournament. They were led by Kyle and Blake Harmon, who each earned First Team All-Conference honors this season. In his senior season, Bryce Kammerzell earned Second Team All-Conference honors.
The Big Sandy Pioneers also had a great season with a second-place finish in the 9C. Bradyon Cline's season did not go unnoticed as he earned All-State honors and First Team All-Conference honors this year. Kody Strutz and Lane Demontiney also played well this season to be named Second Team All-Conference. The Chinook Sugarbeeters placed third in the district tournament thanks to seniors such as Oskar Pula and Toby Niederegger. In their final year for Chinook, both players were named First Team All-Conference.
The Box Elder Bears also had several players on their roster earn honors for this year. Tyrus LaMere was named All-State and First Team All-Conference for his final year in the program. Gabe Saddler was also named First Team All-Conference for his contributions this season.
Many other players had strong years in the District 9C. Fort Benton's Cody Evans was named First Team All-Conference for his performance this season and his teammate Andrew Ballantyne was named Second Team All-Conference. Tyshawn Shambo also played well for the Hays-Lodge Pole Thunderbirds to be named Second Team All-Conference. Turner's Ryan Doyle and North Star's Rhett Wolery and Garrett Spicher rounded out the Second Team All-Conference honors.
