The Montana State Bobcats just keep on making history in 2022.
This weekend in Boise, the Cats men's and women's basketball teams swept the Big Sky Conference tournament titles, and punched their tickets to the NCAA March Madness.
The Montana State men won their first Big Sky title since 1996, with a win over Northern Colorado Saturday night in Boise.
The Bobcats (27-7), won the most games in regular season school history, and claimed the feat of winning both the regular season and Big Sky tournament titles.
Head coach Danny Sprinkle's club was given a No. 14 seed in the NCAA tournament and will face No. 3 seed Texas Tech in the opening round of the West Region Thursday in San Diego.
Led by Big Sky Player of the Year Jebril Belo, the Cats are on an absolute roll right now, and will likely be a sexy pick for an upset of the Red Raiders in a lot of brackets.
One day earlier in Boise, the Montana State women knocked off rival Northern Arizona for the Big Sky championship, marking the third time in school history the MSU women have won the Big Sky title. MSU (22-12), which will be No. 16 seed and play No. 1 Stanford Friday in Palo Alto, California, last went to the Big Dance in 2017.
