Letter to the Editor - Do we want to stop Russia taking Ukraine

I don’t claim to have any amazing solutions or answers and honestly any decisions at this point puts everything at risk and is very delicate.

Here’s what I can guarantee … Putin is going to take Ukraine regardless of how long or what it takes and make it part of Russia again. So either “the West” does something or that is absolutely going to happen. So assuming that’s a known outcome which is going to happen and sanctions aren’t going to do anything to stop it … I’d say Putin is leaving the West with no choice. Otherwise all the Western countries may as well stop complaining about it if all they are going to do is use pointless “mean” words, sanctions and watch it happen anyways.

Like I said … I have no great solution and no easy answers any way you roll the dice. Ironic that potentially “mutually assured self destruction” may not actually work anymore. Which is also exactly why every country needs to step up and stop this.

Do I think Putin would commit genocide purely out of his own pride and spite? Ask yourself that question. Only one way to find out. Either way people die in this scenario. Good luck.
