People invited to Rudyard's Second Annual Scottish Festival

Editor's note: This corrects the date to Sunday, March 6

Staff and wire report

An open invitation has been extended to people young and old interested in all things Scottish.

The Second Annual Scottish Festival, with free admission, is set in Rudayrd starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in K-Line’s Family Bowling Center and Lounge at 215 Main St.

“Enjoy an afternoon of live Scottish music, poetry and history presented by various Montana artists,” a release about the event said. “Jesse Callender, a member of the Montana Piper’s Society out of Great Falls, will regale us with bagpipe tunes.”

The release added that Wild Rose School of Highland Dance from Conrad will perform and Larry McKenzie from Choteau will share his family’s authentic Scottish history, clothing and memorabilia.

“Get out your grandma’s vintage cookbooks,” the release said. “Look for a recipe with a Scottish flair, like scones or scotch eggs. Make and bring it to share at the potluck.”

The event also includes Scotch whiskey tasting for people 21 and older and people can watch the Season Six premier of “Outlander” on three big-screen televisions in the lounge.

“Sla’inte Mhath! (Meaning: Good health in Gaelic.),” the release said. “Come early … stay late.”
