The Rocky Boy Veterans Center recently raised $1,200 to benefit St. Mary Catholic Church in Rocky Boy.
Both of the organizations share a mission, to serve those in need.
"The loss of St. Mary's Catholic Church was a loss for the Rocky Boy community," said Chauncey Parker, executive director, Rocky Boy Veterans Center. "The RBVC is pleased to assist in the rebuilding efforts of the Catholic Church in the hopes that it will soon be able to resume the valuable services it provides to the Rocky Boy community."
St. Mary Catholic Church which was destroyed by fire Dec. 14, 2019, has been fervently raising funds to rebuild their communities beloved church. Now, two-years later; they are fundraising to furnish their newly constructed building. Father Joseph Tran said he has high hopes that the church will be completed by the middle of March 2022.
Founded in 2015, RBVC is a non-profit, currently located on Rocky Boy Indian Reservation, which provides services to all American veterans, not just Native American ones. Services include transportation for veterans from all military branches and all age brackets to/from their VA and other medical appointments, to pay bills, and for their overall daily needs. Counseling services for such things as PTSD, etc., as well as direct assistance for groceries, utilities, and temporary housing. The center also has a temporary employment opportunity for veterans just coming out of the service to help them acclimate back to civilian life.
