News you can use

Hello, God. It's me, Mara.

About love

You know, Lord, even though we are a bit after Valentine's Day, I thought it would be nice to share a poem about love.

A bit late, but still appropriate: author and date, unknown:

"Love is a smile that warms the heart, a touch that says, "I care." A glance across a crowded room that only two can share.

"Love is walking hand in hand, whispered words and sighs. Seeing joy reflected in one another's eyes.

"Love is cherished memories, and sweet dreams coming true. Love is what you're being wished today and all life through."

You, Lord, have written us love letters in Your Word, too. The most familiar one is John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life."

Numerous times You mention how You love us - Your love for us is beyond our imagining. From Genesis through Revelations, You show Your love for us, that You have chosen us! We can read that in Thessalonians 2:16: "Now our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace."

When one gets to worrying or to the point of thinking "Who cares?" - which we all come to, now and then, we only have to open Your word to see Your love and care for us as stated in 1 Peter 5:7 - "Casting all your care upon Him: for He careth for you."

We probably all know a bit about love, being children, parents, grandparents, even being near and dear relatives, or special neighbors and friends, we all recognize love in a variety of traditions or ways, but thank You Lord, that Your love is the best.

Love, Mara
