After a couple of weeks of balmy weather, forecasters predict more snow to fall today and cold weather to return this week with a high wind warning also in effect, but warmer temperatures are expected to hit again by the weekend.
The forecast calls for up to half an inch of snow today in Liberty, Blaine, Hill and northern Chouteau counties, with a chance of snow again Tuesday morning in Liberty and northern Chouteau counties and more snow possible in the Big Sandy area Tuesday night.
A high wind warning is in effect till 2 p.m. today with west winds 30 mph to 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph expected.
Temperatures will drop today following highs in the 40s and 50s over the past week. Highs today are predicted to be in the 30s to lows 40s but lows tonight are expected in the single digits, as are most of the highs forecast for Tuesday.
Lows Tuesday are expected to drop below zero, with highs Wednesday again in the single digits and lows again below zero.
Forecasters expect temperatures to moderate again after that, with highs expected in the 20s to 30s and lows in the teens.
Friday through Sunday, meteorologists at National Weather Service forecast highs to return to the 40s with lows in the upper teens and 20s.
Weather Service does not expect snow to fall in the area through the weekend following Tuesday’s snowfall.
