North Star speakers sees success at state

The North Star High School speech and drama team headed to the state tournament in Huntley Project Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28-29, to compete. 

The Knights had three make it to finals and earn medals, with Choral Wicks and Kaden Frickel taking seventh dramatic theatre, and, in original oratory, Ecko Fraser placed fifth. 

Brodie Jackson broke into semifinals in informative speaking, as did Madelyn Myers and Collin Welch, both in humorous interpretation of literature.

In dramatic solo acting, Emily Conner fought against some tough competition, almost making it to semifinals but not quite breaking.

Congratulations to all competitors for a great showing at state and a super year of competition. Thank you to coach Linda Lett for her work this year with the speech and drama team.

An open house is set for Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in Rudyard at the “Pit” where the students will perform their pieces. Hope you can make it.
