Havre wrestling finishes dual season with win over Glasgow

The postseason fast approaches for the Havre High wrestling teams as they look to end their regular season on a strong note. On Thursday night, the Blue Ponies began the final weekend of the season when they went on the road and won a dual, 48-16, against Glasgow.

The dual got started with Havre's Matthew Lemer wrestling against Jake Kuda in a match in the 113-pound weight class. Lemer went the distance in the match, but Kuda won, 6-2, for a decision that gave Glasgow a 3-0 lead. But Havre's Carson Harris responded for the Ponies as he pinned Ted See at 120 pounds. His pin gave the Ponies a 6-3 lead in the dual.

The Ponies stretched their lead to 18-3 as Colter Solomon and Jacob Kunz won their matches by forfeit. At 138 pounds, Tristan Stygles pinned Glasgow's Jack Cornwell to extend Havre's lead to 24-3 in the dual. At 145 pounds, Reinhard Bold continued the run for the Ponies as he pinned Glasgow's Michael King. Havre's Riley Pleninger won his match at 152 pounds as he pinned Mason Donaldson to extend Havre's lead to 36-3 in the dual.

Glasgow finally found some success in the next two matches. Devon Nesbit won, 4-0, against Havre's Kendall Pleninger to cut the Havre lead to 36-3. At 170 pounds, Damien Nesbit pinned Havre's Mason Wilting to cut the lead to 36-12.

Kale VanCampen got the Ponies back on track in his match at 182 pounds as he pinned Glasgow's Austin Hughes. Glasgow responded with Kyler Hallock winning, 15-4, for a major decision over Randy Tommerup at 205 pounds. At 285 pounds, Havre's Pierce Caplette capped off the Ponies' win in the dual with a pin against Hunter Crum.

The HHS girls wrestling team also competed Thursday night in the Cascade Mixer. Wrestling at 205 pounds, Aaliyah Stiffarm won a match with a pin 35 seconds into her contest against Flathead's Paige Herman. Clara Laird also won a couple of matches Thursday as she wrestled at 205 pounds. She first pinned Flathead's Alisa Leimkuehler 1:29 into the match. She then won by pin 5:14 into her match against Flathead's Lucille Libby.

The Ponies will finish the regular season this Saturday when they compete in the Malta Invite.
