Havre Police Department

An arrest was made after a shoplifter was reported at a First Street business Wednesday at 3:04 p.m., but no details on the charges were provided in the dispatch log. Joscayne Littlebear Denny, who was named as an involved party, was listed in this morning's jail roster as being held on a charge of theft.

Someone stopped at the police station Wednesday at 3:49 p.m. asking for officers to perform a welfare check.

Leonard Jack Nichol of Fort Benton, 58, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving after a caller reported a man spinning brodies in a parking lot on First Street West Wednesday at 8:39 p.m.

Hill County Sheriff's Office

Deputies and officers were involved in a short pursuit at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday, ending in two arrests. See related article on this page.

Deputies investigated drug offenses at Hill County Detention Center at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday.

Havre Fire Department

Emergency medical personnel responded to four calls Wednesday, and firefighters responded to an 8:30 a.m. Wednesday report of a gas smell on the 1300 Block of Monroe Avenue. A small amount of gas was detected and the scene was turned over to NorthWestern Energy.

Havre Animal Shelter

The shelter this morning held two cats and two kittens all of unknown gender, seven male cats, five female cats, two male 6-month-old kittens, one female 18-week-old kitten and one male 8-month-old kitten.

The shelter also held a male German shepherd, a female mixed-breed dog and a female 21-week-old mixed-breed puppy. Also held separately are four 4-week-old puppies, three 3-week-old puppies and a female 9-month-old puppy, all mixed-breeds.
