Cropping seminar in Havre Jan. 13

Montana State University Extension is bringing its Golden Triangle Cropping Seminar to Havre Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Great Northern Fairgrounds 4-H Chuckwagon, 1676 U.S. Highway 2 West.

People are asked to register by Friday, Jan. 7, by calling Hill County MSU Extension at 406-400-2333.

The seminar offers three pesticide credits to licensed applicators.

The seminar agenda is:

8:30-8:55 a.m.: Registration

9-10 a.m.: MSU Extension Cropping Systems Specialist Kent McVey, “Cereal Grain Varieties and Integrated Pest Management”

10-11 a.m.: MSU Professor with Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences David Weaver, “Wheat Stem Sawfly Management and Research Update”

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Lunch Break

1-2 p.m.: Chief Attorney with the Montana Department of Agriculture Cort Jensen, “New Neighbors and New Issues Under the Big Sky”

2-3 p.m.: MSU Extension Forage Specialist Hayes Goosey, “Forage Management During Drought and Integrated Pest Management for Forages”

3 p.m.: Adjourn

Three recertification credits are available in the categories of Dealer, Agricultural Plant Pest Control, Forest Pest Control, Ornamental and Turf Pest Control, Right of Way Pest Control, Public Health Pest Control, Demonstration and Research Pest Control, Special Utility, Mosquito Abatement, Regulatory Weed, and Private Ag Pest Control.
