Montana Actors’ Theatre has set Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 13 and 14, as the audition dates for a play by a local author with local themes.
A release from MAT says “The Harvest” has roles for men and women from their mid-20s to late 60s with auditions starting at 7 p.m. both nights in The Little Theatre in Cowan Hall on the Montana State University-Northern campus.
Show dates are set for Feb. 25-26, March 3-5 and 10-12.
The play is written by MAT co-founder and executive artistic director Jay Pyette and the production will be directed by Audrey Barger.
“‘The Harvest’ explores the struggles of a farming family in north-central Montana,” the MAT release says. “The patriarch of the family is in poor health and the children return to help bring the crop in but are forced to confront the changes in their relationships and some conflicts from the past.”
And MAT has several other productions in the works as well.
A production based on Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol” using large Japanese Bunraku-style puppets is set for Dec. 16-18 and 21-23 at 7 p.m. each night with 2 p.m. matinées Dec. 18-19.
The troupe’s production of “Monty Python’s Spamalot” is set for Jan 14-15. 20-22 and 27-29, followed by its Mardi Gras celebration Feb. 12 then the productions of “The Harvest.”
