From Montana Department of Transportation
The Montana Department of Transportation announced — and invited the public to comment on — a proposal to resurface approximately 9.5 miles of U.S. Highway 2, east of Havre.
The project begins at 22nd Ave. N. and extends east for approximately 9.5 miles ending near a private approach near mile marker 393.
Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, applying a new overlay, and finishing with a chip seal. The project also includes new pavement markings, installation of new roadway signs, and guardrail updates. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the roadway, provide additional skid resistance, and take a cost-effective action to preserve and maintain the existing roadway.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2023, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding.
No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office at PO Box 1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359.
