Hi-Line Football: Football's regular season ends on the Hi-Line

The Big Sandy Pioneers had been on a tear lately with six straight wins over the last month. However, their strong play came to a crashing halt as they lost, 44-0, to Power/Dutton/Brady on the road this past Wednesday night.

The high-power Pioneer offense had been on a roll this season averaging 43.5 points per game so Wednesday's result showcases how strong the Titans are on defense. Big Sandy could also not hold down the PDB offense that now averages 41 points a game this season. PDB finishes the regular season with an 8-1 record and heads into the six-man football playoffs as the No. 1 seed from the Northern.

Big Sandy finishes its regular season with a 6-3 record. The Pioneers head into the postseason as the Northern's No. 2 seed and will play Valley Christian Oct. 30 to open the postseason.

Sunburst 53, Box Elder 18

The Box Elder Bears have faced much adversity this season as they had to forfeit two of their games this season and have not won a game since their season opener against Heart Butte back in August. While they played better in their season finale this past Thursday, they still lost, 53-18, on the road to Sunburst. With the loss, the Bears end their season with a 1-6 record.

North Star wins by forfeit

The North Star Knights were set to head on the road to play Heart Butte this past Wednesday. However, Heart Butte had to forfeit the game which improved the Knights' record to 2-6 this season with both wins coming from opponent forfeitures. The Knights got a chance to finish their season with a game on the road at Centerville on Monday.

Playoff Bound

The Montana High School Association Football Playoffs begin this week, and three area teams are in. From the 8-Man ranks, Fort Benton will host a first-round game against Plentywood, while Chinook travels to Fairview.

In the Six-Man field, Big Sandy finished second in the North and will travel to Valley Christian in Missoula for a first-round game.
