Man held in fatal shooting

A man was being held this morning without bond in the Hill County Detention Center on charges stemming from a fatal shooting Sunday in Havre.

Xavier Clark of Havre, 23, is being held on a pending a felony charge of negligent homicide.

Havre Sheriff and Coroner Jamieson Ross said this morning that 21-year-old Dyllan J. Murray was the person killed.

A Havre Police Department press release said the department’s dispatch center received a call at 1:57 a.m. Sunday in which the caller reported a gunshot inside a residence on the 10 Block of Saddle Butte Drive.

The caller said a man was shot and unresponsive.

Police and emergency services responded and Murray was declared dead at the scene.

Ross said the body has been sent to the Montana Crime Lab for autopsy.

The release says further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
