With only a few weeks left before postseason competition, the Havre High cross country teams hope to be running at their best. The Blue Ponies have won several meets this season and were looking for another strong performance at the Custer County Invitational in Miles City on Saturday. Against the tough competition on Saturday, the HHS boys' team finished seventh and the HHS girls' team finished eighth.
The HHS boys' team took seventh with a score of 197 points. Williston took first with a score of 27. Hardin took second with a score of 47 and Wolf Point finished third with a score of 114. The HHS girls' team finished eighth in their meet with a score of 209 points. Williston won the meet with a score of 40. Hardin finished second with a score of 62 and Laurel took third with a score of 85.
Several Havre runners continued their strong seasons with strong finishes on Saturday. Caleb Tomac finished fifth in the meet with a time of 16:31.56. On the girls' side, Hailey Gingery took 15th place for the Ponies with a time of 20:49.88.
Other Pony runners were able to finish in the top 40 of both races. Zack May took 38th in the boys meet with a time of 18:37.02. In the girls meet, Emma Gillen took 33rd with a finish of 22:38.78.
Havre also had several runners do well in their junior varsity meet. For the girls, Maleigha Fuzesy took 22nd with a time of 24:16.47 and Emily Gilbertson took 37th with a time of 27:36.84.
HHS cross country will next compete in the Malta Invite this Saturday.
